The movie alternates the two voices, giving us two compelling portraits. Aldo Lorenzi, son of a farmer who left the mountains to move to Milan and become a knife grinder, meets Edda at school. He is pragmatic and a man of action; she is contemplative and has a passion for books and culture. They get married and the adventure begins; travelling around Europe in the saddle of the Moto Guzzi Galletto, seeking ancient books that reveal secrets, going overseas and hunting American cutlers who make unique collection knives. A job based on dedication, studies and constant updates and cataloguing, that will lead to the collection of over 18000 commercial and 2000 exposition items, never losing their “sense of the goal” - A story about love and blades.
“If you have a shop, don’t turn it into an anonymous waiting room; don’t feel anxious to make money as soon as possible. Make it come alive with objects that make people dream and think, objects able to serve and last and the rest will come. There are so many things in the world that are waiting to be appreciated, passed on, taken care of and sharpened. Like the knives, they need a grinder for their blade and the soul of their masters. Soul that is often covered by rust and awaits a grinder of the emotions.” (Aldo Lorenzi)
