45' (GER, ENG subs)
Glamour and misery were close in Vienna after the collapse of the monarchy.
Vienna was once Europe's beaming metropolis of wealth and prestige with a cultural impact that rivalled today’s Paris, London and Berlin. It was an imperial city, a residential town, an urban scene flocked by elites. The film draws on exclusive archive materials to show the living conditions of the people for whom this historical caesura of Vienna’s history was a lived reality.
With the help of narrative voices and reenactments that convey to the viewer who is speaking and telling, these narratives create the bridge from today to a time that goes back 100 years and whose drama is almost impossible to imagine in today's peaceful city.
