The Adventures of Humankind

2020
45’ (GER)

Join the first hominids in their fascinating fight for survival.

About 4 million years ago the great adventure of humankind began in Africa: Ape-like creatures discover the advantages of walking upright and embark on a fascinating journey through evolution. We accompany the earliest hominids with lifelike CGIs in their struggle for survival.

We have never before been so close to these pre- and early humans, from the first attempts of the upright walking Ardipithecus Ramidus to modern man, who populates the whole world as a successful model of evolution. The world-renowned hominid researcher Friedemann Schrenk, palaeoanthropologist at the Senckenberg Research Institute, guides us through the widely ramified history of mankind, with its many dead ends and setbacks.

The film accompanies him to Malawi, where Friedemann Schrenk and his team of Malawian scientists were able to add important findings to the great puzzle of human history. Thus the documentary offers an exciting mix of documentary scenes at the hotspots of human history and spectacular computer animations. THE ADVENTURES OF HUMANKIND shows how dependent humanity is upon the changing living conditions and poses the question of how Homo Sapiens will deal with the challenges of a rapidly changing environment in the future.
