Theoretically, if we were to decode the complex CODE of proteins, the basic cellular structure of human beings would be protected from all forms of damage or deterioration. In essence, we would become immortal and no longer have to fear the uprise of artificial intelligence as humans would replace machines. But is this a desirable effect? Our entire ethical and cultural anthropology would dissolve into nothing as this hypothesis would divide the history of humanity into before and after this venture.
This documentary is an opportunity to demonstrate the DECODING of the protein structure: a production which could be seen as taking the last steps in a scientific sensation. Moreover, it shows and contextualizes the entire prehistory of scientific developments and takes a look at some key institutes and their research teams throughout the world - in the USA, in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Ethical questions such as, is humanity prepared for a new era, and is humanity conscious of the fact that we are poised to step into a critically form of civilisation, are prerequisites for this project. However, this documentary is not equipped to answer such questions. What it actually does is provide an insight and an overview into this ground-breaking scientific discovery.
