When night falls and it slowly gets dark, Northern Germany turns into a dazzling sea of lights.

Come with us on a cinematic journey from sunset to dawn - with spectacular aerial shots capturing the impressive play of light and darkness. We introduce people who work in and with darkness, while most of us sleep: a crab fisherman who makes the best catches on the North Sea at night, an astronomer who searches for the greatest possible darkness in a national park, or a biologist looking after endangered moths. We fly away via the port of Hamburg, past the oil platform and brightly lit industry and over farmers harvesting in the spotlight of their combine harvesters. Everywhere is life at night.
