Norway for Pilgrims - Hiking the St. Olavs Way

52'(ENG, GER), 45' (GER)

Norway is a country of myths and legends. In this documentary we will take a trip through time and space and show you just what is so unique about this Viking country.

St. James' Way was once the most taken pilgrimage route. But now it is completely "overrun" and so pilgrims are looking for an alternative route. And there is one: St. Olavs Way. The route is 400 miles long, starts in Oslo and heads north to Trondheim where the impressive Gothic church, Nidaros Cathedral, was once an important pilgrimage destination in the Middle Ages. At the time of the Reformation it fell into oblivion, but it has now regained its fame. In 2010, the European Commission ranked St. Olav's Way equal to St. James' Way.
