Everyone knows angels! But what are they in fact? Why do they have wings? Have they always had them? Have they always existed or is there any point of start in existence? Where did they come from? What are their names and why those? What is their mission? Has it always been the same? The series tells the "Story of Angels“, by following emerging images, statues and frescos through all of the ages that formed their appearance until today.
Angels are contemporary witnesses. Their illustrations reflect issues like human life, death, mortality and eternity. Every cultural era defined its relation to these questions in a radically new way and gave new roles to the angels. This is a journey to the most important places that formed our spiritual life through ages. The simplicity and clearness of the issue creates the structure of the series. The series follows the most meaningful and most beautiful demonstrations of angels in sainthoods, abbeys, churches, palaces and museums of today’s Iraq – Babylonia - to the spots of the ancient world and the early Christianity, to the zenith of the Middle Ages and the pilgrim’s flow in France and the North of Spain, to the Renaissance in Italy and the baroque in Italy, Germany, Austria and Hungary. The visual brilliance is based on a substantial adoption of the issue. The partaking experts will have different points of view, according to the issue and will attend the series as referees. We will be dramatizing this journey into a search of the secrets of angels without becoming insubstantial. The meaning of angels in our spiritual view of the world is so essential that we are allowed to suppose that there are hidden messages and codes in their illustrations. We have to solve them now. This search is the thread and the exciting purpose of the series. Every resolution of the illustrations of angels in detail is a distinct highlight which opens up new questions at the same time. The way of catching the issues feels like being in an “Indiana Jones” movie, meaning a dramaturgically compact and visually convincing way.
