Sailing the World: Magellan & Drake
2 × 52' (GER, ENG subs)
Two men – one goal: to sail around the world. Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Francis Drake are two of the most fascinating explorers in history.
500 years ago, in September 1519, Magellan set sail from Spain and was the first European to cross the Pacific. It's a story about fame, power and influence, but above all about tough global political interests. The two-part documentary shows that today's globalisation began back then and we take a closer look at the challenges, conflicts and tragedies, following our protagonists to the original locations with the help of elaborate animations.
