He has conjured up the ghost that once bypassed the whole of Europe: Karl Marx, an authoritarian know-it-all with untamed hair. And this ghost is just coming back to the Europe of today.

Karl Marx survived Marxism. Antimarxism too. And he is still the most quoted economist in the world. In the film he returns to earth and appears in London, Brussels, Berlin and Trier. His image is the living projection of our longing for a saviour. The world in which he moves is in a state of upheaval. Factories, residential buildings and intersections dissolve into digital "point clouds", white dots on a black background. In a "war room", 30 experts create a crisis scenario for the year 2026.

Can we understand or even change our complex world with the help of Karl Marx? Or is it already too late? This documentary gives an analysis of the present combined with Marx' biography and the question of relevance of Marx in our unsteady times.

The Marx Think Tank discusses the relevance or non-relevance of Karl Marx in our time. The experts are among others: Ulrike Herrmann, business journalist and author of "No capitalism is no solution either"; Gareth Stedman Jones, historian and Marx specialist from Cambridge; Andres Veiel, director and initiator of the "War Room" and enthusiastic reader of the "Manifesto".
