The Confederations Cup being held this June in Russia is a “dress rehearsal” for the WM 2018.
The honour of hosting The WM 2018, a most prestigious event, should befall Russia’s President, Wladimir Putin. However, in order to officially secure this honour, the President is required to host a “practice” event to demonstrate the future operational structure and procedural organization of the WM 2018. With corruption knocking at Russia’s door, can they successfully host the Confed Cup?
The Confed Cup, which comprises of 8 nations including World Cup champion Germany, should demonstrate the future operational structure and procedural organization of the WM 2018 event and the successful execution of the Confed Cup should grant the country the coveted opportunity of hosting the mega event in 2018.
