The female refugee experience is plagued by physical and sexual abuse. Find out about the women who slip through the cracks.
Almost 70% of refugees are men. And as physical and sexual abuse is common to the female refugee experience in any part of the world – a sad truth - what happens to the few women who make it to Europe? The silence is being broken. The film uncovers the refugee situation through the eyes of the women who have been consistently falling through the cracks of the system. By telling their personal stories, they hope to shed light on the conditions under which refugee women have to live.
Naima El Moussaoui and Lukas Roegler have decided to examine the refugee accommodations in entire Germany. They meet with the women who have come to Germany to seek refuge but are living with a sense of unease due to a lack of safety. They also visit the largest refugee camp in Jordan and meet with the brave victims who speak about the cruel attacks on women in the Syrian prisons and women who were forced to marry off their underage daughters to rich Arabs so as to ensure their survival. For many there is no chance to enter Europe. Are the German policies of Asylum also to be blamed for the devastating fates of these women?
