Putin’s People – What Do The Russians Want?

60' (GER, ENG subs)
How do the Russians see their president and what do they expect of the future?

The oil price is dropping, the rouble is losing its value, the Russian economy is running into difficulties and their foreign policies baffle the West. The political mood towards Europe and America is becoming more aggressive and more patriotic. Russia is in a state of flux. Perhaps one of the greatest sea changes in this century. The documentary “Putin’s People” therefore asks: how is Russia changing?

If Europe imposes sanctions, Russia will look towards the booming Asian market, which is also cheaper. That is how foreign policy works in Russia. Because one thing is important to the Russians: their sovereignty! We traveled the country and met people of different origins, with different professions and careers, and with their own view of their country. What unifies them, what divides them, what do they expect? Impressive pictures and stories illustrate a country which, like many others, is undergoing a transformation in its economy and power politics.
