The Donald Duck Principle

90' (GER, FRE, ENG subs)

Failure is not all bad as long you have the ability to overcome!

Donald Duck is one of the most popular cartoons in the world. But he can’t fly or save the world and doesn’t exactly have the best of luck. Why is he then so identifiable? Is he popular because he always manages to push pass disappointments, work through catastrophes and walk head first into disasters? His attitude to life's letdowns is rather comforting. He shows us that failure is not all bad and that being able to rally after a disappointment is the beauty of human nature. For this reason and many more, we are taking a closer look at the character and his adventures.

The name "Donald Duck” is one that is known by and has been uttered by many around the globe. Although he is extremely short-tempered, he possesses a rare and admirable positive outlook on life. As the first comic to be published outside of the superhero genre, he represents the average man. However, despite having no extraordinary feature he never runs away from a fight. He is constantly harassed, attacked, ridiculed and at times knocked down during his long-life, but he always gets back up. Is this what that makes him so identifiable? The 80 year old hero made his first appearance in a cartoon film in 1934 and since then has been a symbol of hope that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
